DIY PLEATED LAMP SHADE (4 inch sconce shade) You DIY PLEATED LAMP SHADE (4 inch sconce shade) You need: 4” plain sconce shade 1.5-2 yards fabric glue gun fabric scissors Method: • Cut the fabric into 3-ish inch strips (the longest way possible). Fold in half the long way and decide on a direction (I kept my seams to the right and overlapped that way). • Dab a little glue on a starting point, inside at the top. Press your folded fabric down and hold for a few seconds. Hold it down with one hand and pull fabric down the front of the shade. Wrap it under and pull through the top. Overlap your last piece to cover up the cut side (you can decide on how much for what look you want). • Continue this until you run out of fabric, gluing down the end wherever it lands (Ideally not towards the base like I did in the video. Midway inside the shade is ideal to hide it more.) •Start with a new piece from the top and continue this process until it’s fully covered. The last remaining piece can be tricky— I folded over both sides to hide the cut as best as possible (and put this side towards the back of the sconce). *Since the fabric does prevent the light from shining through, it’s definitely best for a lamp or sconce you don’t use all of the time!
